Re-enabling Battery Saver in ChromeOS v123

April 13, 2024

ChromeOS v123 removed Battery saver settings in the Power menu. To re-enable battery saver in ChromeOS :

  1. Go to chrome://flags.
  2. Enable "Temporarily unexpire M122 flags".
  3. Restart your device to apply effects.
  4. Go to chrome://flags, then enable "Enable ChromeOS Battery Saver Mode Support".
Battery saver is great especially if you own a fanless Chromebook such as HP Chromebook 11 G8. It throttles animation and CPU usage so that my Chromebook doesn't get too hot when playing games or doing graphic-heavy tasks such as online video editing using Canva, Clipchamp, and the like.
